How did it get to be July already? Summer is well and truly here, and we have a few scorching deals to tell you about this week. You might have seen Teenage Engineering’s ‘name your price’ slider for the OP-1 Field, which went mildly viral recently. Well, we don’t have a fancy slider, but we do have a code to get up to £300 off, so if you’ve had your eye on this iconic mini-synth, now’s your chance to snap one up at a discount.

Throughout July, there are also similar savings to be had on the Pittsburgh Modular Taiga Keyboard. This semi-modular is not only an excellent standalone analogue synth, but a great way to experiment with Eurorack thanks to its 24HP modular expansion bay.

We’ve added a bunch of exciting new pre-owned and B-stock listings this week, including lots of premium modules from the likes of Instruo, Random Source, Xaoc and Frap Tools at fantastic prices. Read on for details of new synths from Sequential and Oberheim (and an exciting in-store event), new Eurorack from Qu-Bit and Schlappi, and a few cultural recommendations from the team.

Until next time,

New from Sequential and Oberheim

Sequential and Oberheim this week unveiled beautiful new desktop versions of their popular TEO-5 and Take 5 polysynths. If you don’t need a keyboard but want to get some of these brands’ timeless analogue goodness into your setup without breaking the bank, this is the way to go! Stock is expected next month, and you can pre-order the TEO-5 Desktop and Take 5 Desktop now.

To celebrate the release, we’re hosting a special in-store event on Wednesday, 30 July with Sequential and Oberheim product specialist Chris ‘-CALC-’ Calcutt. He'll give an insight into the culture and history of both companies and demonstrate the sonic magic that makes their instruments a feature in so many studios and live rigs worldwide. Tickets are free and going fast - save your spot on Eventbrite.

And finally...

Tom has a few recommendations this week: “The Music Not Diving podcast has become a firm favourite of mine recently, with a great range of guests and some entertaining hot takes from its host, Scuba. He’s just re-released a classic episode with snooker legend-turned-synth nut Steve Davis, which is a great place to start.

“Music-wise, I’ve been loving two new EPs from Dave Huismans, aka A Made Up Sound and 2562, under his new pseudonym, ex_libris. They feature dense, hazy and organic sound design with deep beats - a really unique sound that should appeal to fans of everyone from Jan Jelinek to Theo Parrish.

“Finally, the book currently on my bedside table is Quantum Listening - Pauline Oliveros’s classic manifesto for the practice of ‘Deep Listening’ - something we could probably all do with at the moment!”
